Haynzy (the UK RnB singer with a look similar to Lewis Hamilton) has a background in gospel and soul music, but was inspired by fellow Brit, Craig David and decided to follow his passion and pursue a career in R&B. After working with production/management company Rudo Music – responsible for Darren B, the young vocalist developed his song writing abilities with producer Dial Tone and later moved to fast moving Blue Colla Records to pursue a solo singing career.

Urbanworld catch up with him for a chat…

How long have you been in the music industry?

I started singing when I was eight and I'm into gospel music, so I've grown up through gospel really. Then I started writing my own songs at about thirteen, fourteen.

What was your influence?
Just all the proper music really, like 112, Boyz to Men and Brian McKnight. They inspired me when I was younger. Also Craig David.

Who have you worked with? Any well known artists?
My single was produced by Dial Tone, who's a well-known writer and producer in America. He has worked with artist like Lil Wayne, George Satana and Sound Bwoy and produced the song Never Wanna Say Goodbye by Sound Bwoy.

Who would you like to work with?
I'd love to work with artists like Kanye West, and some of the other big guys in America. Kanye is such a real artist and he brings a lot to a track. I'd also like to work with Ronnie Jerkins that would be great. So just whatever comes up really.

If you were a superhero, who would you be?
I like Neo from the Matrix; he's not really a superhero but Neo or Morpheus from the Matrix they're cool because they're cool with it as well. They're not like the superman kind of superhero they're just cool with it.

What do you think of music-related crime? Do you think music has a big influence?
I think if your bad, your bad and you need to go down a certain road to help you, I don't think just music is going to help. It can influence but I don't think it can actually stop it; you have to tackle the problem properly. So you can only try and show them the right way to solve it.

How could you use your music to help fight crime?
Just try and influence people through the lyrics that are used in my songs.

What advise would you give to someone who wants to be in the music industry?
Just make good songs. It doesn't matter who you are, if you have a good song then people will catch on to you and you will go places. Like Heads, Shoulders Knees and Toes, or any of those dance songs. They haven't got a name before they bring out the song. If they've got a good song or if it's catchy and the music is good then people will catch on to it. So you just have to write and make good songs.

What is your next move in the industry, like writing for example?
I've written quite a few songs and I've worked with different producers. I have a new single lined up produced by The Three Kings. It's getting quite well known. I'm trying to start being featured with artists like Bashy and Chipmunk and other people like that.
