Eddie Murphy to host next year's Oscars
Eddie Murphy has been given one of the biggest roles in his career-he will host the prestigious Oscar awards next year.
The ceremony, which is also known as the Academy Awards, is produced by Brett Ratner (Rush Hour movies) and Don Mischer.
Mischer believes Murphy will do an amazing job, stating that his ‘quick wit and charisma will serve him well as a host’. Ratner called him a ‘comedic genius’.
Fifty year old Murphy, who has also been nominated for an Oscar in the past, said he is ‘enormously honoured’ to be given a chance to host. Previous hosts include Whoopi Goldberg, Bob Hope and Steve Martin.
The show will take place on February 26th 2012.
