An interview with RDB one of the biggest groups to come out of the UK

What does RDB represent?

R- Rhythm D- Dhol B- Bass

 

What do you hope to bring to the British music scene?

A new genre of Bollywood mixed with our Punjabi styles with some major mainstream collaborations.

 

What do each of you bring to the group?

Kuly is the creative master making the craziest beats and baselines, Manj with his tuned vocals adding melody to the music and Surj making sure the track gets used in the right place at the right time.

 

You are three brothers, are there any disagreements when you are travelling together?

All the time as brothers always do. But luckily, because there are 3 of us, majority vote always out stands. A very democratic system. 

If you could collaborate with any music legend, past or present who would it be?

Michael was our dream collab, but its unfortunate thats never to be. Other than that, Justin Timberlake, Usher, Madonna.

 

You have collaborated with huge artists such as Snoop Dogg, Ludacris and Public Enemy, how was it working with them?

As initially music composers/producers in the industry, we have been approached by many Indian film directors and producers to create a unique international sound for their Bollywood films.  Doing this we feel we had brought a westernised sound into the indian market that indians can happily digest. However, we felt this was not enough.  So we set out to bring some of the big musical names in the commercial market to the forefront of Indian music. After recouping the success with Snoop Dogg on the film Singh Is King we felt we could stop their and then introduced Ludacris on our track called "Shera Dhi Kaum" on the Indo Canadian film "Speedy Singhs"

 

Are there any UK hip hop artists that you would like to work with?

Hopefully will be trying to work with some in the near future as Uk rappers have really stepped up their game. Might be getting in touch with Tinie Tempa, Tinchy Styder, Kano etc...

What can we expect from RDB in the future?

More bollywood films, more mainstream collabs, more punjabi music, and if we can find time our own LONG anticipated album "Worldwide"
