» 36th Annual People's Choice Awards 2010

There's nothing quite like the first star-studded awards event of the season to kick-start the New Year and the 36^th People's Choice Awards didn't disappoint.

Celebrating its 36^th year held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, the ceremony was hosted by Queen Latifah for the fourth time.

Celebrities came out in full force to support the 36th Annual People's Choice Awards, which attracted over 60 million film fans, music lovers and TV watchers voted for the awards.

• Sandra Bullock picked up two awards – the first for ­favourite comedy movie, The Proposal, and the other for favourite movie actress.
• Hugh Jackman won for ­favourite action star and Jim Carrey for favourite comedy star.
• Ashton Kutcher won for favourite web celeb.
• Twilight star Taylor Lautner took the award for breakout star and Twilight won for favourite movie.
• Johnny Depp was presented with the ­People’s Choice Award for actor of the ­decade, to which he responded: “I’m ­extremely humbled.”
• Comedian Ellen DeGeneres picked up her 11th trophy beating Oprah Winfrey for the category of favourite talk show.
• Carrie Underwood won for favourite ­country music artiste, Taylor Swift was ­selected as favourite female artiste and Lady Gaga won favourite pop artiste.

The highlight of the night was the Queen of Hip Hop Soul" Mary J. Blige rocking the ceremony with her past and present melodies, Mariah Carey who nearly fell over due to white figure-hugging gown while collecting her gong for Favorite R&B Singer and actress Sandra Bullock who had the audience in stitches when she announced that she'd slept with Tiger Woods.
