Bing Britain

It was a snappy time at the recent Bing Your Britain national photography competition, which attracted more than 8,500 entries.

Divided into four snapshots: my Local Britain, my Natural Britain, my Britain at Night, my secret Britain and my urban Britain, with each winners receiving £250, pop star Dizzee Rascal kicked off the competition earlier this year when he captured a series of photos for the Bing homepage, before joining the judging panel to pick an overall winner and the winners for each category

With more than 120,000 public votes cast throughout the duration of the competition, Bonkers rapper Dizzee announced Carl Haynes as the overall winner described his winning photo of  cyclists speeding through a pedestrian tunnel in Newcastle-upon-Tyne as “untamed”.

Speaking to URBANWORLD'S Osworld, Dizzee who enjoys taking a snap or two said: “A picture says a thousand words which is why I love photography because like music it’s an expresses of oneself.  The response to this competition has been fantastic because so many youths are inspired by our towns and cities by looking for beauty in unlikely places. It’s cool to think Carl’s perception of beautiful Britain will be shared with over 16million people when it appears on Bing's homepage.”
