Maxi dresses
Every decade presents several iconic looks. The maxi dress was a hot trend in the late 60s and 70s, and after resurfacing earlier this decade, it has since become a key look for the spring and summer seasons.
Wearing a maxi is not for the faint hearted because the long length can make it tricky to wear. The style mainly compliments tall and fuller figured women because when wearing one, they look instantly elegant. Petite women on the other hand, must ensure that their maxi has a great cut so that it compliments their frame. Luckilly, they can wear chunky heels to provide the extra height needed to pull this look off. Women with larger busts must stick to V-neck and halter styles.
Useful ways to detract from the length of fabric include wearing a wide belt, a chunky necklace or a waistcoat. This way, the focus is on you and your acessories and not on the extra fabric of the dress.
Of course, the main benefit of wearing a maxi is that you can hide your legs away– so rejoice at the fact that they can be left unshaven!
If you're still unconvinced, remember maxis come in variety of styles including dramatic prints, paisley or plain, halter to strapless. The key to successfully wearing this look, is to know whether you should dress it up or dress it down.
Overall, the maxi dress is flattering and worn in the right way it will make every woman, no matter what height or shape, look both sexy and feminine.
