Fashion:
Geek Still Chic?
When trends come in, you often wait for the inevitably of them losing their steam, and fizzling back out. However, although it may be fairly impractical for Boat Shoes to maintain their current dominance in everyday fashion come December – it seems that the whole geek-chic “thang” looks to be a continuous choice for many of Hip-Hop and R'n'B's popular faces. Spotted at the U.S. premier of the movie Lottery Ticket, Bow Wow was seen sporting his own pair of Browline frames – looking very Maxwell in them, so to speak. Not to say that could ever be a bad thing!
Still, curiosity – and perhaps impatience – makes me wonder if this will always be the default look for these artists when they're looking to clean up their looks. I'm not judging…and perhaps their lenses do actually carry a prescription. Nonetheless, a little variation wouldn't go amiss, even if these guys do feel reminiscent of Malcolm X. If something works, but is boring, then does it actually work? Perhaps I shouldn't encourage artists to push the envelope – we saw what happened when Chris Brown tried to add his own personal flair to some frames, after all.
