Unheard Tupac Shakur Tracks To Be Released
Fans of the late Tupac Shakur are in for a treat. The publishing company who now own the rights to Death Row Records' back catalogue are to release a body of work from the artist including previously unreleased recordings.
Bosses at music publisher EverGreen have signed a deal with a Canadian development company which acquired the assets of Death Row Records earlier this year, and are set to release the lost recordings of the label's biggest name to mark his 39th birthday in June 2010.
EverGreen executives and their partners at WIDEawake have already licensed Shakur's Death Row hit California Love and Snoop Dogg's Gin N Juice for TV shows and movies, and now there are big plans to release Shakur's forgotten tracks. And it doesn't stop at Tupac, some of the labels other big names are set for a revival too – plans for the release of a collector's edition of Dr.
Dre's The Chronic and material by Snoop Dogg and MC Hammer are also in negotiations.
WIDEawake Entertainment Group got Death Row Records in their clutches in January when the label almost liquidized due bankruptcy. Death Row was previously owned by American football pro-turned- industry- heavyweight Marion 'Suge' Knight.
