» Michael Jackson's Mum Granted Temporary Custody Of Children
Michael Jackson's mother has been awarded temporary guardianship of his children until August.
Katherine Jackson is seeking full custody of Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and Prince Michael II, 7, and is also seeking control of their estate until they are old enough to control it themselves.
Family lawyer Londell McMillan: “I don't think there will be anybody who thinks there is someone better.”
A further hearing will take place at Los Angeles Superior Court on August 3.
Debbie Rowe, mother to Michael's two eldest kids, divorced Michael in 1999 after three years of marriage. She is yet to state her wishes in the custody agreement.
“Ms Rowe's only thoughts at this time have been regarding the devastating loss Michael's family has suffered,' reads a statement from her attorney.
“Ms Rowe requests that Michael's family, and particularly the children, be spared such harmful, sensationalist speculation and that they be able to say goodbye to their loved one in peace.”
Debbie gave up custody rights after the divorce, but sought them again in 2003. A private settlement was reached in 2006.
Michael's youngest son was born to an unknown surrogate.
