Veteran soul singer Etta James' is in hospital recovering from sepsis, an infection.
The singer, whose string of hits include jazz classic At Last, remains in a Southern Californian hospital but according to her manager she is in a stable condition. It is unknown when the 72-year-old singer will be released from the Riverside Community Hospital.
Donto James, Etta's son, revealed that his mother has been hospitalized for about a week with sepsis caused by a urinary tract infection.
She entered a treatment program to shake a dependency on painkillers and was transferred to the hospital when her condition worsened.
