Lil' Wayne Finally Goes to Jail
If this weekend's Academy Awards had a category for Best Procrastination Before A Jail Sentence, the gong would surely have gone to one Lil' Wayne.
His sentencing was initially pushed back from February 9 so he could have surgery on his teeth. It was postponed again last week when a fire shut down Manhattan's main criminal courthouse while he was on his way there. However, this week the 27-year-old was finally handed his sentence at a New York court and sent to jail for gun possession.
Weezy will serve a year behind bars after being arrested back in 2007.
The Lollipop hitmaker's lawyer told reporters that it is likey his client will serve his sentence at Riker Island prison in New York and be kept separated from other inmates.
Weezy fans won't be left bored with the MC locked up – he is said to have recorded at least 10 music videos which will be released while he is in jail.
