Kanye West Apologises to Taylor Swift
Kanye West has made a public apology (via Twitter, of course) to Taylor Swift – to say sorry for his behaviour at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards – gosh, it’s only taken a year(!)
Just in case you require a recap, Kanye took to the stage during Taylor’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video to declare that he felt the award should have gone to Beyonce’s Single Ladies video.
The Power hitmaker has gone to the point of penning a song for the Country music star: "I wrote a song for Taylor Swift that's so beautiful and I want her to have it," he said on his Twitter on Saturday night. "If she won't take it then I'll perform it for her."
Kanye apologised for his inappropriate protest and insisted he had learnt from his mistake. “It is distasteful to cut people off as a general rule. What's the point of dressing tastefully if I'm going to act the complete opposite?” Kanye wrote. “When I woke up from the crazy nightmare I looked in the mirror and said GROW UP KANYE... I take the responsibility for my actions.
“I am not a bad person. Even in that moment I was only trying to do good but people don't always need my help,” he added. “Beyoncé didn't need that. MTV didn't need that and Taylor and her family friends and fans definitely didn't want or need that.
“I’m sorry, Taylor.”
Kanye will have the opportunity to say sorry in person when he and Taylor come face-to-face at this year’s VMAs September 12.
