The Weekend Ink's Deal
Canadian artist The Weeknd has kept a high interest by restricting his performances, appearances and internet presence, all while building a loyal legion of true believers. Now, two years after releasing his 'House of Ballons' mixtape, He has signed a record deal with Universal Republic via his label XO.
Co-signed by singer/rapper Drake, the Toronto native purposefully remained unknown when he released his first project, which built more interest from fans, who were curious to learn more about the upcoming singer. Having made a name for himself by hitting the road as an opening act for Drake and dropping three well-received mixtapes, his first project distributed through Universal Republic is an album called ‘Trilogy.’ Due November 13, the set will include mastered versions of tracks first heard on his previous efforts ‘Thursday’, ‘House of Balloons’, and ‘Echoes of Silence.’ A few unreleased songs will be added to ‘Trilogy’ as well. the beloved “Wicked Games” will be pushed as the official first single. Prior to the album release, he will return to the road, performing in Hollywood, Miami, Atlanta, New York, and Toronto.
