From the moment that I stepped into the Hackney Empire the atmosphere was electric; it seemed like all of the local community had come out to support this sell out show, the I am Slim tour. Slim has been performing on the comedy circuit for a number of years. The tour has been produced and supported by Harmony Productions who is an experienced comedy promoter.

Once I made my way through the sea of people to my seat I sat back to see what British comedy had in store for me. The evening was hosted by Felicity Ethnic, who had the audience in fits of laughter from her boisterous approach and tongue in cheek jokes. Audience members that were seated at the front row feared that they may be stopped and fall victim to a barrage of jokes about themselves by Felicity.

Eddie Kadie, a relatively new comedian on the circuit, caused me to almost hyperventilate as I tried to catch my breath in-between uncontrollable laughter, as he joked about the young males' experiences of living in London .

My ears were pleasantly serenaded by the sound of the saxophone that was elegantly played by the Mobo award winning Yolanda Brown. Miss Brown danced and swayed with the Sax held in her aims, causing me to rock from side to side

The highlight of the night was Slim, who was welcomed onto the stage with love and anticipation. The audience waited expectantly as he started his set and got more than their money's worth. Slim covered a number of topics from being the youngest, raising his son, being forced to go church and the dos and don'ts of working with friends. Each topic that he talked about he added his own mischievous but likable style and authenticity.

The audience doubled up with laughter, some screaming, some crying. I personally wished I had brought a packet of tissues to wipe the tears from my eyes, a great evening, British comedy at its best.

I would definitely recommend going out and supporting the I am Slim tour or any other comedy night produced by Harmony Productions. Harmony Productions will be hosting an evening of comedy called Strictly Come Laughing(13th May at Hackney Empire), featuring, Eddie Nestor, Robbie Gee, Slim, Eddie Kadie, Felicity Ethnic, Jocelyn Jee Esien and much more, the evening will be hosted by Kat.
