» Bashy - Catch Me If You Can

Catch Me If You Can is the debut album from North West London resident MC, Bashy. This may be his first album but for those of us familiar with the UK Grime scene, Bashy is no new arrival.

You may remember him from his clashes with the likes of Wiley and Ghetto, or his Ur Mum Volume One or Chupa Chups mixtapes or even his appearance on that North Weezy track by B.M.D.

Either way Bashy is no stranger to the music game, but it wasn't till 2007 that he secured everyone's attention with his single, Black Boys.

The 23 year olds latest release is not limited to his Grime roots and features other genres such as Hip Hop, R&B, Electro and Pop.

Listeners are soothed into the album with Before, Before which has a soft jazzy melody and Bashy reminisces on his past like when he used to steal jeans from Urban Outfitters.

Lyrically his attempt at the electro track, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, isn't too impressive but admittedly the song is slightly catchy (thanks to the beat) but at times it also borders annoying.

Sorry (featuring Zalon) is a shout out to the females and an apology from the MC for his past woman bashing (ie How To Pick A Wifey from his Chupa Chups mixtape).

Favourites of mine would have to be the R&B/Hip Hop enthused, Travel The World which features Dappy from N-Dubz and also the soulful Living My Dream.

The track, Ransom featuring Wrecth 32 and Scorcher, also deserves to be mentioned because it provides the album with something hard and gritty, with its sinister lyrics and beat.

Catch Me If You Can is a creatively ambitious album with its assortment of beats and themes and Bashy has ensured that there's something for everyone, so listeners will not be disappointed.
