Adrift
Adrift is a Brazilian film centralised on the complexities of family life and the transformation of a young girl into a woman. Adrift tells the story of Filipa (Laura Neiva) her summer holiday with her middle class family and a series of emotional events that unravels a lot of family secrets and a self discovery of her inner self.
Set in the Braizillian shores of Buzios in the early 1980’s when major changes were taking place in Brazillian society, Adrift illustrates teenage love, the social and peer pressures of losing your virginity, hidden marital affairs, a series of love triangles and how they affect the lives and mental states of those closely involved.
Adrift is filmed with an outstanding crew and cast, directed by Heitor Dhalia a Sundance and Film Festival winner, also starring international, accomplished actor and Cesar Award winner, Vincent Cassel who plays Fillipa’s father a French-writer Mathias, along side mother Clarice (Deborah Bloch) and two other siblings.
Adrift is a light hearted, enjoyable film for all ages, highlighting family values and peer pressures, mostly recommended for today’s youths and couples, to help educate and learn about the consequences of ones actions and how it can affect others.
