Rihanna - Loud
Rihanna has come back with a new album, whether you love her or hate her, you are bound to find at least one track off the album that you would like. The album is very diverse with many different genres of music from rock to hip-hop to reggae.
The album begins with S&M a very seductive song no doubt you can only guess what the song is about. It does make you feel a little uncomfortable with lyrics such as ‘sex in the air but I don’t care’. Maybe she is just trying to show off her mature side. The song then follows onto the song ‘What’s My Name’ ft Drake. This is the second single off her album; if you’ve heard it already then you already know how big this song is.
The song ‘Cheers To That’ Rihanna used Avril Lavigne’s vocals where she simply says ‘Yeah yeah’ however her voice is very distinct but compliments the track very well. It is one of those feel good songs you would listen to with friends, gearing up for a night out.
Only Girl In The World is placed halfway through the album, that itself was a huge hit for her. Rihanna shows her soft side with the song ‘California King Bed’ this slow song shows off her vocal range; hitting those high notes. There is a reggae sound influence on the track ‘Man Down’. It was said that Rihanna was inspired by Bob Marley on this album, if you hear ‘Man Down’ then you can see why. Rihanna’s vocal on this track is reminiscent of her vocals on ‘Pon De Replay’ with a Caribbean flavour to it.
Other duets on the album includes Nicki Minaj and Eminem. Rihanna teamed up with Nicki Minaj on a track called ‘Raining Men’, the two voices actually go well together. Ending the album is ‘Love The Way You Lie – Part II’. Just when you thought you couldn’t hear the original song anymore, this version is just as good.
Overall from listening to the entire album, she has come a long way and has grown as an artist.
